Google to Hide Old Applications from Play Store

Google plans to hide thousands of mobile applications from the Play Store in order to increase Android security. From November 1, 2022, all apps with a target API level of more than two years won’t show up on the store searches. Find more trending news on the GBC Time Website.

As each release of Android OS has unique features, apps from Android 11 may have problems running on Android 12. The target API level allows Google to solve that incompatibility. This, however, often poses a threat to overall security, allowing malware and exploitation of users. Hackers can also take advantage of this system.  That’s why Google has decided to hide older applications from the Store.

At the same time, users with older Android phones will still have an access to old apps. You can also sideload hidden apps with various services.
